The reverse stalking would actually make me not want to visit people pages as much because I wouldn't want them to think I was internet stalking them.

I would like better statistics though and a mobile friendly version of the site or an app.

With tagging I would like auto-complete instead of the drop-down list(and have it work with peoples real names along with usernames because often I have no idea what a friends username is on the site since they use different ones)

I'm with this, I hate browsing sites where people are gonna be able to see whose page I visited when.

Oh, so you two don't like DA or Cure's similar option then?
DA uses "Recent Visitors" and Cure has "Footprint"
Thanks for that input! (cos this would be a hard thing to program in)

I use the footprint thing out of curiosity, but I don't make any decisions or add favorites based on who is browsing me... I dont think the reverse stalking thing will do much for actual action/productivity, it's more like an "iffy" perk...?

We've been asked to put it in before, and as you can see, there are some people in favor of it, but it also comes with excess baggage

Actually I don't browse as heavily on Cure because of it and have my ability to be visible on peoples pages disabled on DA but I will still avoid revisiting people who have the upgraded accounts on DA in case they still say if you visited or not.

Ah! Good to know! Thanks, it's interesting to know people's browsing habits, we certainly wouldn't want to stifle that on ACP

I really hate it on DA, particularly because it can be set so that EVERYONE can see who has visited a certain page. It does make me think twice even before checking out the profiles of people who have faved my pictures.

It bothers me a little less on Cure, in part because it's more private, in part because the community vibe is different there , and in part because I feel a little farther removed from community politics on there. But I wouldn't miss it if it were gone, either.

Yeah, I'd be against reverse stalking, too. I'm not sure I see a way that it would encourage people to browse more, and it certainly sounds like it would make at least some people (probably myself included) browse less.

Finding ccosplayers by location, or a "cosplayers near you" kind of thing.
And since I can't seem to vote on it, team formation and social media links.

I see your vote, so it works.

For your location suggestion, do you mean like someone registering where they are via GPS at a con or something and finding them that way like Foursquare "checking in" or do you mean like just a general state by state option?

I think the social media integration is what will lead to further expansion/revenue LOL. Also many cosplayers are now making sep FB,twitter, Tumblr, etc JUST for cosplay, or photogs are doing so for the same. Statistics would be my second choice, but that's more just a browsing distraction than something that sounds like it would benefit both the site and the member..

i actually was hoping for the Card game to continue!!! XD

that, or a perk for celestial members to design and order ACP "profile" cards! double advertising right there LOL.

Oh I totally forgot about the ACP profile cards, thanks for reminding me about that, it was a possible option too!

going to agree with some of the above about the reverse stalking I don't like it personally too many weird/negative impacts it could have, i think in the end there is so much more interesting upgrades ACP could spend time on :)

def. going to vouch for a social media linkage, because on any profile on other sites I have I list out my other area's I'm active on my profile.

Also chiming in to say I don't like reverse stalking. It can be taken in the wrong way by the wrong person. For example, say there's someone who I don't like (and who doesn't like me) on a personal level and we don't speak for whatever reason. But they make a costume from a series I really like, and I'm interested in looking at it purely for that reason. I would likely not look at it if I knew they could see that I looked, because you know how immature some people can be. It's sounds stupid, but that's just the nature of things sometimes.

Oh I also thought, since I don't visit the site every day or multiple times a day it would be nice to get a 1 time email per day you can opt in if you make it in the top 10 visited profiles(this goes with the better stats IMO)
[info]acparadise wrote:
Dec. 6th, 2011 06:14 pm (UTC)
Oh, you'd be interested in seeing that top 10 even though you didn't visit the site that day? (Didn't know people would want that)

Only if I was in it and then told the highest rank I received for the day.

It's not mentioned here, but I'm wondering if there could be a better way of handling multiple seasons of a show instead of splitting them into totally different series? If I'm looking up, say, Sailor Venus, I end up needing to visit 7 different pages to see all the costumes. It might be okay if that level of precision actually worked, but it seems some people miscategorize their costume under the broadest title and tend to use the "variation" to distinguish the series. Not to mention that artbook or original variations don't really fit into those categories quite as neatly.

If it's not really possible to reorganize this system, what might be cool is that if a character appears in multiple related series, just getting a link to their other pages would be helpful. (Like the way the related series show up on a series page.)
[info]acparadise wrote:

For your example of Sailor Venus, you want that ideally to pull all her incarnations? Princess, Musical, Minako Aino, Live Action, and all her seifiku styles? That would probably ned to be custom assigned vs making an algorithm to pick it up.
Also if its just one set of characters, its not worth overhauling the database just for that. Are there any other characters that have that problem that you've come across?
[info]singingraisin wrote:

I know I've run into it with Code Geass as well, and the many places a Disney Princess could end up. I'd probably have to poke around a bit to turn up any others, but those two spring to mind.

How does this sound to you then as a celestial perk?
After you do the initial search you click a tab for graphical search, and it just pulls up all the thumbnails to c.c. from across ACP, like a google image search. Would that work?
[info]singingraisin wrote:
Dec. 9th, 2011 03:19 am (UTC)
Possibly? Though I'm not sure how well that'd screen for characters that aren't actually related. It could certainly be an improvement... (if I get interested in how people have done a Sailor Moon wig there are a TON of character pages to visit to see all the results.)

It might just be nice for characters that show up in multiple series (or installments of a game) to just have links to their other character and variation pages. Thinking about it, I suppose that wouldn't be able to be totally automated, especially to include all variations, and I'm not sure how much work that would entail. (I have no idea how many series have "related series" in your database.) But it might be a nice feature in the future... if anyone besides me actually makes extensive use of the search. ^^;

I personally -adore- cure's footprints feature. I've found a ton of cosplays that are astounding through it by seeing who has come to my profile. Though, as some people are prone to privacy concerns, making it optional would be a good choice.

I also really like how cure allows you to add your favorite characters into one pulled-in search. I really don't want to filter through 40 gajillion characters to pull the ones that I like. Would that be possible? I guess it would go up with your suggestion to singingraisin! The statistics is also a fun aspect of the site, so I would be in full support to that as well.
[info]acparadise wrote:
Dec. 10th, 2011 12:54 am (UTC)
Oh, so basically you're looking for a "Favorite Character" (as opposed to Series or Cosplayer?) We weren't sure how that would be received, but if you got some other people who would like that, have them chime in!
It's a little different than what singingraisin wants, that's more of a search feature. You're more looking for a subscription feature right? Get notifications when a new "whatever character" costume shows up on ACP?
[info]cactusmomma wrote:
Dec. 10th, 2011 02:16 am (UTC)
Yeah, I think subscription would be a better way of wording it, which would also be a nice perk for the Celestial members

Here, I've made some screenshots to show off for people who are unfamiliar with the Japanese side.

http://i41.tinypic.com/jrpg6u.jpg This is what the footprints page looks like. The 2 cosplayers I didn't mosaic out are ones I've found via them looking at my profile.. and they're amazing! It does also show regular profiles... so there is positives as well as negatives to the practice. Hence, making an opt out option would be nice..but I do like to see who takes a peek!

http://i41.tinypic.com/29w8hvb.jpg If you expand your favorite character tab, it gives you the results that pop up. As you can see, my current list consists mainly of King, Nami, Boa Hancock, and Agnes. I like to see how others do their costumes, regardless of variation. This is also another way to find amazing cosplays and cosplayers!

http://i44.tinypic.com/25re9ac.jpg The bottom part of the main 'my cure' page. Instead of having entirely separate pages that can push other results out by extremely long descriptions, you have the option of expanding them via thumbnails. I'm not sure if that would be an option with the given software for ACP... or if turning it to a thumbnail option to give you more results could be a Celestial thing, whilst the current layout would be kept for the free accounts.. Then at the very bottom is daily stats, etcetc..

I really hope this long-winded typing makes any semblance of sense for everyone. Trying to play catchup and multitask like the mother I am right now after a vacation to see family is..hectic..... =D

How many do they display on the favorite character tab? Seems like it goes on forever?
[info]cactusmomma wrote:
Dec. 10th, 2011 03:09 am (UTC)
48 thumbnails per page and it looks like it goes back as far as the character has been around, but you guys could limit it to say.. 25 pages or so.

Oh, is there a way to simplify the notification system? For instance, I like to know when a member I don't know uploads a Bleach costume, but when a friend of mine uploads a Bleach costume I don't really need a notification that my friend uploaded an Orihime costume AND a favorite series notification that my friend uploaded an Orihime costume. And I definitely don't need the favorite series notification when I'M the one who uploaded the Orihime costume.

It's not overly annoying, it just feels inefficient.
[info]acparadise wrote:

:D actually the way it is now -is- the simplified way, it just notifies on any and all updates.

What you're asking is for a smart system, which would take some tinkering as it would need to cross check your friends list first (and some people don't have their notifications on for their friends), but point taken about series notification and your own update shows up there, but that means the series notification needs a variable to weed out your own update. Some people just get the digest only so it's not so spamful.

Of course this has the possibility to get even more inefficient if we put the "favorite character" option through and for some reason you're subscribed to Orihime and Bleach, and now get all three notifications if your friends add one.
